ECOSWITCH held its Life Cycle Assessment and Eco-Design ECOCLUB workshop at the Berjaya Hotel in Makati last May 3 and 4, 2012. The workshop attendees were the representatives from the ECOSWITCH Certified companies which completed the “base workshops” and are now ready to the more advanced topics.
Dr. Thomas Dielacher commenced the day with a welcome message and preceded the Life Cycle Thinking input. Mr. Christian Angerbauer, a Senior Expert followed with the content about Life Cycle Assessment. The first exercise done was about a simple life cycle assessment among lamps, specifically incandescent lamp, compact fluorescent lamp and LED lamp. It was a collaborative and fun learning with the team on interesting calculation and decision-making on which type of lamp is a better option.
The second part of the workshop was on Eco-Design, input was given also by Mr. Christian. There were two-interactive exercises in this second part of the workshop. The first one was creation of an eco-friendly and money-saving packaging for a product. The other one was about assessing a product’s life cycle and coming up with eco-design measures with the use of an online Eco-design pilot tool.
Indeed, it was an interesting workshop with interactive exercises for fun learning. The participants were able to exchange ideas at the same time learn how to decide on a more ecologically friendly product.
