Manila Water Company Holds Awarding Ceremony for their Greening the Supply Chain Initiative Through the Green Philippines Islands of Sustainability Project (GPIoS)

Manila Water Company (MWC) is one of the shining showcase participants during the first year of project implementation of the Green Philippines Islands of Sustainability project. Manila Water has been able to gain an annual savings of PhP 76 million for the environmental measures implemented upon joining the project.

MWCMWC aims to share this success to their suppliers’ network. With the triple bottom line principle of PEOPLE, PLANET and PROFIT, they launch their Greening the Supply Chain Initiative where in they encouraged their suppliers to join the ECOSENSE Program of the Green Philippines Islands of Sustainability project.

MWC held the recognition of the suppliers which participated in the GPIoS project last January 26, 2012. This includes 11 of their suppliers which attended the GPIoS ECOSENSE Workshop. The program started with the testimonial from Ms. Cabungkal, one of ECOCLUB companies of the GPIoS project. She shared her best experience, the environmental measures and the savings that CRL Laboratories benefited by participating in GPIoS.

The highlight of the ceremony is the MWC’s handing over of the plaque of recognition to the companies with Clarisse Francisco and Helen Joyce Basco, Technical consultants of GPIoS. Ms. Juvy Perez, Project Coordinator for GPIoS gave the final remarks and encouraged the supply chain companies of MWC to join.
